About Our Family
About Us
We’re a suburban Chicago family that finds joy in most things. Quite frankly, we don’t have the time or desire to be serious if we can avoid it. John and I (Maggie) are both teachers. We have a three year old named Ellie and a new baby girl named Tessa. At her birth, we learned that Tessa has Down syndrome. We are kind of crazy and definitely not perfect, but this life, our life, is wonderful.
About Yo Soy La Lay
I originally created YoSoyLaLay when I was going to write a blog about teaching Spanish. The domain sat unused for a year and a half while I finished my Master’s degree… and three days after graduation, Tessa was born. She is a much more interesting topic to write about. 🙂 “Yo soy la lay” is a play on words in Spanish. “La ley” (which is pronounced like Lay) means “the law” and the sentence literally means “I am the law.” It’s a nickname that a former colleague gave to me because of my approach to teaching. I like things to be fun and not overly dramatic, but in the end, when it comes to work and behavior expectations, I am the law.
About my words, comments, and pictures
My blog is family-centered and is written for my girls. I don’t approve comments that come from sources that I don’t have some connection to, be that connection in the real world or the blog world.
My pictures are my own unless otherwise credited. Please don’t take them without asking. That’s just kind of creepy.
Thank you for the inspiration!!!
Oh my goodness what cute kids!!! Adorable.
Thanks! They are crazy. 🙂
